A tour of our classroom...Welcome to our world of learning! Here in this fourth grade classroom, students embark through the learning process and are referred to as historians, authors, readers, scientists, mathematicians, and artists. We have a great outdoors themed learning environment, and one that supports the social, emotional, and cognitive learning goals of each child. The classroom is furnished with spaces for individual work as well as collaborative tables, designed to invite children to work with different peers each day. Our classroom library provides cozy sitting areas, as well as content-rich and high-interest reading material at various reading levels. In this student-centered classroom, students are provided the tools necessary to create meaningful projects that integrate 4th grade curriculum standards. An array of supplies and manipulatives are available for students, neatly organized for easy accessibility. We also have a wide variety of technology resources that support our 21st century classroom, including iPads, laptops, Desktop PCs, a SmartBoard and document camera. We're going to have tons of fun "camping out" this year!

Jessica Bupp attended the Orange County High School of the Arts for high school and continued her education at Chapman University, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film and Television. During her time at Chapman, Miss Bupp worked as a tutor and teacher's aide at various schools. Upon graduation, Miss Bupp became employed by Fox Studios and worked in the television industry for five years. During hiatus periods, Miss Bupp taught filmmaking to young students and also continued to tutor, which led her to pursue teaching full time. She returned to school and participated in a teacher preparation program at California State University, Northridge, taking part in the ACT (Accelerated Collaborative Teacher) Program. Upon completion of this program, she began teaching first grade, followed by second grade, third grade, and is currently teaching fourth grade.
Miss Bupp's philosophy about teaching and learning is a mixture of a constructivist approach and the use of integrated-arts. Through this style of teaching, she feels that children will develop a genuine love of learning at a young age. Miss Bupp believes that teachers can facilitate students in constructing their own knowledge by planning engaging learning experiences that are student-driven and inquiry-based. This approach to learning provides students with opportunities to display how they reached an answer, which is just as important as arriving to a correct answer. With a strong background in filmmaking, Miss Bupp enjoys enriching student learning by incorporating video production opportunities in which students learn through writing, directing, filming, and editing videos such as news programs, dramas, and variety shows. Miss Bupp has several personal interests, many of which revolve around her love of creativity. Throughout her life, Miss Bupp has enjoyed artistic avenues such as performing arts, dance, technical theater, painting, interior design, mosaic-making, video editing and filmmaking. When Miss Bupp isn't teaching, she can be found spending time with her family, crafting with her sisters and mom, or playing Legos with her adorable nephews. |
